One of the biggest hurdles for value-based care is motivating patients to adopt healthier lifestyles and adhering to care plans – for the long term. Contrary to popular belief, it’s NOT enough to just inform and educate patients, especially those with chronic conditions. We already provide patients with plenty of well-designed handouts and videos. But it’s just not enough for the majority of patients who need to take meds regularly and make changes to their lifestyles. Gamification offers a proven behavioral science method that has been motivating consumers and students for decades. Thousands of apps and platforms – from games and loyalty programs to fintech and education – already employ gamification to keep users, customers and students engaged and active.
