Providers, in the face of turbulent financial times, require proactive leadership to evolve their organization’s business model. TriHealth, a large community health system in Cincinnati, has already embarked on the journey to transitioning a significant amount of revenue from fee-for-service to fee-for-value. Leadership at TriHealth has invested in a host of value-based contracts and toolkits to execute under two-sided risk models. TriHealth started its MSSP ACO in January 2017 which led to several high performing years. Most recently, in performance year 2021, TriHealth’s ACO earned $9.8M and a 94% quality score. For the 2022 performance year, TriHealth’s employed primary care physicians joined Esse Health ACO with interest to participate in the Direct Contracting program (and soon to be ACO REACH). In addition, TriHealth’s MSSP ACO, Healthcare Solutions Network, was maintained and continues to operate for the remainder of the network. Dr. Bryan Strader President of TriHealth Physician Partners and John Khoury Vice President at Lumeris will discuss TriHealth’s journey from MSSP to ACO REACH with:
- Key points on TriHealth’s decision making criteria to transition to Direct Contracting/ACO REACH
- Programmatic levers that Direct Contracting/ACO REACH offers that TriHealth deploys
