Fact Checking the ACO Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (REACH) Model

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations (CMMI) recently announced the ACO Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (REACH) Model. The REACH Model will replace the Direct Contracting model starting on 1/1/23. ACO REACH retains the DC Model Global and Professional tracks and adds new requirements to advance equity, promote provider governance, and protect beneficiaries. All existing Global and Professional DC participants will need to meet the new ACO REACH model requirements by 1/1/23 to remain in the model.

Despite the redesign, some common misconceptions about the DC model have carried over to the ACO REACH model and new concerns have been raised. The following slide deck identifies and addresses several of these misconceptions.
