Accountable care organizations results prove the future is now for value-based care

How do we – as an industry – improve health care? It’s an ongoing question and discussion that seems, at times, endless. Discussion points range from access to care, to cost of care, to making health care more culturally relevant so that it meets people’s needs.

Meanwhile, the healthcare industry continues to focus on itemizing care rather than addressing people’s health holistically. That ongoing focus defines a fee-for-service world where volume is rewarded, not value. Consequently, that incentivizes treating illness or doing procedures, rather than preventing disease and improving health and wellness.
